So just trying to understand why I can go upwind a **** load better going in towards the beach? or is it simply my clutch foot has more coordination & strength being the back foot on the way in ?

I find I cut up wind easy and makes lots of ground up going towards the beach than out which I kind of stay neutral ground, I also seem to get and maintain a lot more board speed while cutting upwind going towards the beach than out ? which I dont understand i would thought I would lose speed going upwind.

Sometimes it's harder to hold an edge and fly upwind when riding into the waves and chop. Is this any less apparent when riding in flat water?

Everyone always has a strong side where skills develop faster. This never goes away and is why pros get scored more for doing tricks on their switch side.

In any case, you need to gain more speed when traveling away from the beach and build a lot of apparent wind in your kite. Then slowly straighten your back leg and lean back until you find the sweet spot where you are slightly going up wind.

It could be that when you're coming to shore, you've something to focus on. I'm told you should pick a point upwind and aim for it. You'll then turn your shoulders and hips in the direction of travel, which will make going up wind easier,......

,.... So I'm told.

I found being goofy footed going upwind was a lot more easier for me when I did my first few runs.

If the wind is cross/onshore you wont make much ground up the beach going out
compared to coming in because of the wind angle ,you can only compare each
tack in relation to "up & down the beach" if the wind is blowing cross shore.

Think this was it today it was cross and it was doing just as good out as in.
