It frustrated me so much that I gave up kiting for 3 months and took up land boarding (with a foil kite). Talk about making a 180! But it actually helped me as I was able to edge more easily and go both ways more quickly. After a while I simply tried the same stance and techniques on water and it clicked!
You must need a bit of space to land board wouldn't you ? Where I live there are power lines and trees every where , I tried a bit of kiting in one of the parks once , but wind was all over the place after passing around buildings and trees , I could barely keep it in the air , and that was just a 3 m foil trainer . I have thought about a car park , but again too much stuff in the way . I would guess I need a wide beach with a direct onshore to make a land board viable wouldn't I ?
