I was out at lake weyba, kiting happily on my 8m.
It was gusting and dropping off now and then.
There was another person walking out to launch and i was upwind of them. I considered turning but the wind was consistant and i felt i could easily go above them with plenty of room, put my kite up higher as I passed.
All going great, then the wind just died out!!! It just friggin stopped!!
I fell onto my back and kept flying the kite and then the wind just died altogether and the kite lost power. Difted right back and just fell out of the sky, there was nothing i could do.
Luckily it hit the water still 5m to 8m upwind of them. So i had room. The drama being if i didnt it would of crashed straight into them. Immediately the wind pick straight back up again, I relaunched and got clear.
But it was a lucky learning curve and i think when you think you should turn and head the other way just do it.
