Merry xmas all.
whats the reason for a release on a harness safety leash when the kite already has a release on the bar/loop

yeh for sure it saves your kite from a thrashing , ive let it go a few times for this reason but and a big but make sure you can get yourself back to shore as you could be letting go of your only lifeline.

When my kite went over powerlines couple years back I had to use harness leash safety.

If your kite ends up somewhere you don't want to be, and you have split second to decide what to do I hope you know how to pull that safety.

You should never have to use it, but everybody should know how theirs works and how much more difficult it is under load.

I can remember being grabbed by the end of leash when I was a grommet/learner in Christchurch, I got pulled around a grass paddock until I found my safety and pulled it.

Good times.

Great way to simulate a "kitemare"

I guess if your kite ended up on the road or your lines in boat prop would be another few examples.

Now go ragdole ya mates at the beach till they pull the pin, lol. You might just save their life's.

But seriously....... Do it.
