Hi guys,
I started last season and currently have a 2011 NPX impact harness.
It seems fine although I had to change the spreader bar on it and the only one left in store was a smaller spreader bar. However it seems to fit on it fine and it doesn't hurt my ribs. It seems comfortable but I have never really tried any other harnesses besides a seat harness while learning.
I am just wondering if getting a different, maybe more expensive harness will perform better in any way?
What are key factors in a harness? What to look out for? does the shape of it make much difference? or is comfort really the only factor you should take in account?

Hi Akwa. Comfort is the key. If you like it, why change? Board short harnesses are becoming quite popular though. As you're still new to the sport I imagine you won't be doing much unhooking anytime soon, not on purpose anyway. With that in mind, if you do change, make sure the spreader bar hook has a good deep curve to it. Some hooks are specifically for unhooking and have a small curve making it easier to get on and off, but also make it easier to accidentally slide off.
