Disclosure
Newbie . . . Love the sport, don't say much . . . . . action speaks sort of person

This has led me 2 ask why would a person very new 2 the sport would b having a lesson today in an onshore breeze gusting from 15 to 30+.

This same person (who I felt sorry 4) every time he went to dive his kite had his board pointing upwind b4 on most occasions being launched before deploying his safety as the kite headed toward the trees @ Melville.

Y my gripe or question?

Safety and enjoyment maybe, B4 the $

Things can go awfully wrong very quickly,; so I must of missed something as 2 wat this was to achieve?

Agree. It's a tough time of year for the schools as the wind is frankly not suitable for learning most days in winter.... thanks to the variability of the wind... and the fact it's f'ing freezing.

On the plus side you have a better chance of having the beach to yourself on and off the water, so less risk of taking someone out when that gust hits

After the budget "we have to have" next Tuesday, expect more cowboys out there.

Not sure whether you know Melville, but to paint a basic picture. This time of year you walk out about 30 from the beach and kite pararallel to the beach with a gusty onshore breeze. As this guy deployed the kite landed virtually on the beach. Not my idea of smart, safe and effective anything.

i would be sending them an email or calling them stating what the instructor was doing . no doubt a blowin euro at the end of his time here and about to go home .

Most shop owners are oblivious to what is going on at the river as they are not teching themselves but running the shop .

I learnt in winter, down at south beach, My trainer was you tube,
funny how none of those wind window and how to launch a kite vids talk about gusty conditions.

I thought it was the norm and that kitting was just hard and a bit unpredictable and I would eventually get the hang of it.

THEN!!!!! summer rolled around the winds got steady, met a few other kiters and thought this is the sport for me

Summer winds are fun but learning in gusty conditions was a good experience, much respect needed
