I used to live in this area as a beginner kiter (was already up on the board). The easiest locations are the ones in green

The Entrance and Norah head is where I kited the most, pretty beginner friendly.

Winds in this part of the country are not very reliable and you'll need to have a flexible work schedule to take advantage of the few windy days per week you might get. I was using mostly big kites and going out in light winds, which is more difficult when you learn. I had a lot of days when the wind was simply too light or not reliable enough.

There are a few schools in the area, use the link above to search for them and ask other kiters on the beach see who they recommend. If Mark from ESS boardstore still does lessons, get in touch with him, great guy with heaps of local knowledge.

Gear is always included in lessons so you don't need to worry about getting gear for now. Focus on your lessons as you will need at least 3x 2h lessons to make real progress. It can take some time to learn and you'll have to be patient and perseverant, especially with the wind conditions in your area. Don't expect to be on the board in your first or second lesson. If you get a good buzz after your first or second lesson you can start looking for gear, your instructor is a good resource to help with this.
