I have a new seat harness with a lower point of attachment I feel I am now overeaching for my bar. Is there any way to bring the bar closer without effecting the sheeting or trim ??
I have a Switchblade 3 (not IDS)

I think you need to clarify ! Because if you have moved to a seat harness with a lower attachment point the bar should now be closer than before .....not further away.

Otherwise ,

A smaller chicken loop will bring the bar closer !!

yeh, harry is right, a seat harness will bring the bar closer to you.. unless you kite standing on your head, or the kite is actually a submarine

either way, you can bring the bar closer, you just need to trim the front lines in (make them shorter) then the bar will be closer for the same angle of attack at the kite...

another way to bring the bar closer it to grab it with ya hands and pull it a bit closer

If you are still lost then post a pic of your bar and lines so we can visualise your problem. Is reach a problem when you are up and kiting or when you are recovering and the kite is in the water.

Darryl I think you missed the point of the trim strap it is there to trim the position of the bar in relation to the loop. ie closer to you or further away. If your gear is reasonable new the front lines my have stretched. The other way to compensate is to attached the back lines to knots further away from the kite. You may need to attach pig tails to the back lines

Thanks for the advice here. Ian I have checked my line lengths and the front lines have stretched. I guess I should have said that my problem is that I feel I am over reaching when riding.

nah you just make or buy some pigtails to lengthen your rear lines to make them even with the front again

Lines tend to stretch when they are new. Then settle in for a season or two then once they start to stretch again It's time to replace them. Be good to your lines wash them in fresh water after every sail / kite. Watch out the guys who buy second hand. If you kite suddenly starts flying to one side or needs a big adjustment of the power strap the line may need renewing
