Hey,
I have a normal twintip with a petex base. When I got the board I sanded the base to get rid of some scratches on it.
However that has now gotten rid of the original rough texture which i believe allows it to acquire less friction??
I was just wondering if it is possible to fix this by sanding it a certain way, or with certain grit sand paper or anything else??
Cheers

Doubt you will be able to get that texture back probably best to just polish the base

Mate, what's up with you?
Study some science, specifically fluid dynamics and see what effect surface roughness has on drag forces.

Lol ya dont need to study science to know that sanding the bottom of your board is a bad idea lol. Get the planer onto it and carve out some new channels while your at it haha.

And while you are at it, jump on the newbies forum on Seabreeze and hang crap on someone posting a newbie question.

Just ride it and don't worry. If it was that much of an issue all the guys riding on the sand would be whinging too!

There is no way you would ever be able to tell what the surface finish of the board is doing to your performance. You're not that skilled, and surface finish makes only a bee's dick of difference.

Stop sanding and polishing the bottom of your board. Just get out and ride the ****ing thing. Whenever possible ride across the beach to get some real character into the bottom (seriously).

Actually, water sticks to smooth polished surfaces more then ruff surfaces. Take 2 identical flat items, 1 ruff and 1 polished. Put them on a 45 degree angle and drop some water on it and see who wins. And ruff side wins every time!

Don't worry bout it. If you could see my boards you would think yours are in good condition. Riding up on the beach, rocks, coral and hitting rails, logs and god knows what else! Boards are there to have fun on and be ridin till they die!!

P.s when you see my boards for sale on buy and sell. Don't buy them lol

Bare down wind and keep the kite low to the water pull full bar and hang on. That will make you go faster then sanding. I would not stress about the bottom of the board just get out there and rip it up

may be easier to spray some type of 2 pack on base.
You will spend hours and hours polishing it out by sound of things.
maybe ask you local smash spay painter or ask around, you will find someone with
back yard spray gear.

Don't worry too much about it. Get a smooth surface and then it should be alright. If you deperately need a rough surface coat it with hammertone finish. My TT for instance has a smooth surface. Also, people ride all sorts of **** e.g. fridge doors :)

Actually, I never heard about PETEX, but if this is similar to what ski's have on their surface then this might help or may not?
