G'day.
I have been sussing out the kite boarders down my local beach....
I reckon I will give it a go..I have done some research on the net and read a heap of your posts regarding lessons etc.
I will get a trainer kite and hit the beach or local park ( if its empty )
Once confident using that I will get some lessons and buy some equipment.
Hopefully the trainer will help me with what type of kite to get.

Good plan billym.
The trainer wont help a fig on your kite choice BUT will make a huge difference to the value you get from your lesson time.
As a reward for your spot-on thinking PM me ur email address and I'll send you a copy of the trainer kite manual we give out to all our students before they start their lessons on LEI's. Beats the heck out of just playing round with the trainer. It will tell you all about where & why - all you have to add is the how.
As far as kite choice goes the best person to advise is your instructor. He/She should know better than anyone whats going to be your best options. Ask for styles rather than brands and ask other kiters before you commit (just in case ur instructor isnt spot on).

Thats what I did.
Bought an Ozone 3.5m IMP trainer from Kitepower.
Its got more power than some of the others as its bigger, but flying concepts are just the same. You get a good feeling of the power you can get out of a kite ( even a small one like this ) Imagine what a 12m kite can do !
Cheers
