Hi Gazrilla, any reasonable brand of modern kite will be fine for learning and your first year, I would suggest getting a lower aspect kite 9-10m for your weight (if it is Surfconnect then perhaps an LF Envy) lower aspect kites are generally easier to relaunch than higher aspect kites when you crash them......something you will be doing plenty of for a little while It is up to you and your budget as to whether you get all new gear to start with......or get a secondhand rig as buy new once you have a better feel for what you want. Whatever you decide be warned..........this sport is extremely addictive

Surfconnect have a vested interest in keeping you happy, well taught, safe and well advised. Listen to your instructor and other local kiters. Most people will advise against buying new to start with as you can tend to hammer your gear a bit. Unless of course you have oodles of cash or pick up a package dirt cheap.

Hey Gazrilla,

if you buy used then you might want to get an experienced kiter to comment/check over the used gear.

Like the guys have been saying, you'll be bashing your gear around for the first year and you won't know what features you like/hate about your gear until you've been using it for a while.

It's a great sport so enjoy and let us know how you progress!
