Hi there,
a friend of mine is looking to learn down that way and I'm helping her find the right person.
I know lots of instructors around the country but none here.

If you think my list of requirements below is kosha then please contact me and we'll go about teeing you up some work.
She currently owns a Lithium 9m and a 134 TT
So anyone with contacts to larger Lithiums and TTs would also be well appreciated also.

Looking for.

A teacher who spends most lesson time in the water with the student.
Boat drivers with umbrellas and radio helmets need not apply until the board lesson (usually lesson 3).

Radio helmets are a plus for the dedicated board lesson but not a priority and not necessary for lesson 1 & 2.

Someone who teaches body drags and initial board work whilst holding the harness handle of the student. Again beachwalking & 100% armwavers need not apply.

Someone with nice easy flying gear.

Someone whose priority is their student, not their wallet or their schedule.

A three hour lesson minimum.

Sorry if that sounds picky but I have seen many students learn next to nothing from some teachers but of course there are some great teachers out there

I'm hoping that's you!

Cheers

Haydn,

I'm in Melbourne, and if you saw me on the water, you'd swear there's no instructors in Melbourne ;-)

Pattie, type in St. Kilda and kitesurfing school and I'm sure you'll find a few in Melbourne.

lol @hayden! thanks guys, I should have titled it Recommend an Instructor. I can use the telephone book like anyone. But how do you pick the good ones ?
That's why i'm here.

I'm hoping you can pimp your instructor if you felt genuinely impressed from the progression you experienced in your lessons.

There are some really awesome, good teachers out there who only give their best and are held in high regard by most kiters and their students. I'm hoping to hook up with these peeps here.
The IKO recommends a teacher stop a lesson and re-schedule it's completion for another time if wind abates, but I have seen teachers keep the clock ticking, and hand over the bill at 2.5 hours. I'd rather find the good dudes straight up.

If you can help out with some names or schools you've had very positive experiences with please pimp them out here or PM me their details.

Thanks again

Neil from Kiteboardinglessons.com.au is in botany. This guy was fully focused on getting me up and running. First lessons where on the beach, then downwinders with him following you in a boat.

I was told on one lesson "we're not coming back in until your up and riding on the board.." and we didn't, and I was...

Couldn't fault the value for money or the results
