Hi guys,

I'm progressing loads this season which is great, got my turns down and starting to go toe side one direction with some nice carve turns at the end.

But I don't seem to be able to jump because I don't feel I have complete control of the board, I.e. I feel like it might come off. Also it's a little like that while going along, like I'm constantly straining my feet to feel like I'm properly wedged in my straps. I tried tightening the straps but I think that might have made it a little worse as now I can't wedge them in fully.

I will keep playing with the tightness to try and get it right.. but does anyone have any tips for getting your feet fitted to the board properly? Or how should I be holding the board to my feet while trying to jump?

Any help much appreciated!!!!

Certain straps have a more locked in feel than others, maybe ask a few locals if you could check their strap pad combo, what suits one might not suit another, the dakine warlocks(straps) give a very secure fit, however some can cause injury, for me I've been very happy with my shinn , people rave over the naish apex, they look the goods but didn't do it for me,

Like Cauncy I like my Shinn. I used to use heel straps... Dakine do Raptor heel straps for about $25. They work really well but become unnessasary once your skills increase ie falling off less

I have a board with pads like this one - you can wrap your toes around the ridge

Is the board actually coming off? If it not don't worry too much about it. It takes a bit to get used to them not feeling like a snug pair of sneakers or boots. If the board isn't coming off your feet and the pad/straps still don't feel right then look at spending coin on a different set.

Try curling your toes up to lock yourself into the footstraps. I ride in really loose straps on a dead flat pad and this works for me.

Cheers for the advice all. The board isn't actually coming off.. it just doesn't quite feel secure so it's probably hindering me really going for air etc.

I've tried tightening them a bit again after loosening them. It's probably a case of finding a sweet spot and getting used to it, as they are actually quite comfy straps.

I replaced my monk pads with Apex's, same deal as above. Just jump in deep water, doesn't matter if your board comes off.

Interesting, I curl my toes down to push the top of my foot higher into the straps.
Losing the board used to be an issue when I first started boosting, but now I'm hardly ever losing it (without bailing the board on purpose) with no extra tightening. Pretty sure it's just confidence and practice.

+1 for entity footpads
+1 for curling toes straight after you leave the water
