Hi Guys
Just curious to know what size / brand kites people are looping out there! I can do downloops and hooked in backrolls with kiteloops, But am determined to get your standard kiteloop (megaloop) dialled in this season with as little carnage as possible!! Now i know it just a matter of getting some nuts about me and trying it and a few of the guys where i kite have got them switched on nicely! But as a refrence i have a 9m 2010 rebel (my small kite) and weigh about 100kg so a different kite and weight compared to those at my local. Basically going to have to throw them in about 25knots min to get the height i need! Anyone else out there similar weight and same kite as a reference!

Hi Lethal Dons,
The Rebel is a sick kite which goes big, but it has almost no pull in a kite loop so just go for it! The 9m is a good size, easily fast enough.
You need a little more "C" shape to get good loops. The Rebel is a good way to learn, little consequence!

8 and 10m Switchys are my preference the 8 a bit more than the 10

Hi Guys,
The Octanes are more hybrid in design which lends itself to more pivotal turning. Anything that pivot turns depowers in the loop as the airflow over the wing on the inside radius of the turn loses all airspeed so immediately you drop at least 50% of the power in a loop. This goes for Switchies too!
You can make them pull harder by not cranking such a tight loop or by depowering the kite heaps. This reduces steering response and makes the kite take a much wider arc and also lower angle of attack allows the kite to build more speed which, although depowered, will increase power through increased apparent wind speed.
The best kites for strong loops are kites that are more "C" shaped. C4, Torch, Vegas, Fuel, Prima Donna etc.

Particularly when you are at the same height as the said kite ! You can see it stall and you know this isn't going to end well.
I will often ease my bar out as the kite is flying back up.... then crank it on again or start the second loop just before landing.
