Is it possible to tow a kiteboard behind a boat and use it like a Wakeboard?

or would the fins get in the way and the lack of bindings rip you off?

Hi Infinidie,

We regularly use our kiteboards to wakeboard behind my boat in Winter. It is still fun but doesn't work as well as a wakeboard.

Kiteboards don't have the rocker necessary to allow you to pop easily and release from the water. The fins on Kiteboards are too big in general.

If you only wakeboard once in a blue moon, your kiteboard will be fine for basic carving, and wake jumping, but if you are serious about going behind a boat, then you should get the boots and the proper board.

Cheers,

DM

No worries mate,

Having said all that above ^^^ I would like to try the new Cardboards Tempo out behind my boat, it has a fair bit more rocker than most kiteboards which are usually flat through the centre to give good upwind performance so it should, in theory, pop better and be more fun behind the boat. I'll let you know after next winter ;-)

It still doesn't have as much rocker as a wakeboard, but a good compromise from a kiteboard.

Agreed with DM, then again his info is generally spot on.

IF you give it a go it might be worth putting the smallest fins you can fin on, even 1/4 inch is big behind a boat.

My new tempo doesn't have as much rocker as my nobile NHP which i have tried behind a boat. The NHP did work but not that well compared to a wakeboard.

Using Kiteboards behind boats is its own kind of fun.
Yes you can do it and enjoy the laugh. Remembering not to take yourself too seriously.

Hadlow seems to be bringing out a kiteboard that will have some wake potential.

I'm guessing the kitesurfing in this next vid is on a prototype.
