Tried my first one today fully committed. Jumped as high as I could, pulled the bar as hard as I could at the apex, looped the kite but not enough for it to save me. I just remember watching how slow, wide and late the damn thing looped and knew it wasn't going to be a happy ending... hahaha. Awesome fun but judging from how the 10m loops and downloops I don't think this kite has got enough speed to save my ass. Am I wasting my knees trying to loop the 10m? No doubt I should be sweet on my 7m though...

No expert by any means but i suggest start small and build up.

It sounds like you went for it a little too much. No need to be above your kite on first attempt.

10m switchy will get round easy!

I found Back roll kiteloops are probably the easiest. I know it sounds strange but i got this tip from some random guy one day and it worked.

The kite doesn't need to loop and climb to the top of the window in a backroll kitelop. Completely different to what Big eeeZeee wants to do.

Definitely save it for stronger winds and smaller kites. Having the guts to try it is half the battle.

Some of the biggest Megaloops i have ever seen have been on a Cab. Nothing wrong with there turning speed. Just make sure you are high enough before you pull the trigger on the loop.

10m SB will loop ... if it's not catching you you are not jumping high enough or not enough wind....... Strongly suggest you start with so called "pussy loops " ie begin loop with kite at 12 ,before you try boosting and pulling the trigger ... The season has just begun and a knee reco takes 6 + months to heal.

Get your hands on an 8m SB about 30knots of wind a loop fetish and kiting gets all scary again I have been looping for a few years now and I still get nervous before each one!!

What he said ^^^^^^
I still get the FEAR before every kite loop too, I've been doing them for a few years, such a buzz when you land 'em , but pain when you don't.
Best place to start learning kiteloops is on the snow snowkiting but thats another story.
When you commit to 1 , commit 110% never pull out early....

I just watched the latest On The Loose. The preview for the next episode shows Len10 snowkiting to practice for his biggest mega loop ever. Cant wait to see the next episode should be sick.

A question about pussyloops as I reckon I'm ready to start the early stages of the looping game, however I would like a gradual learning curve so as to keep my knees and other stuff as safe as possible. I'm not fifteen any more:

Can you make a gradual transition from overhead/pussy loops (not really loops but just steering the kite through a circle above you) to gradually doing them further down in the window so you get gradually more horizontal and less vertical pull?

And do you really need any height at all, I mean in light winds I can loop my kite fairly low to the water as I ride along. I'm comfy doing downloop transitions (carving, not airborne) even when it's pretty windy.

Next step?

You don't have to boost to do loops. But if you do it does pay to go big and commit to the loop or you will get smashed. It is going to turn out worse if you dont try to go the whole way, if you are already having knee issues learning megaloops is not going to help them at all. One of our crew snapped a lunacy last year doing a loop, thats how brutal it can be.

Unhooked kite loops even though they sound hard or dangerous are quite the opposite due to the fact that you can just drift the kite to 12 and initiate the loop and you can gradually go bigger and bigger taking the kite from lower for more power or higher for more lift and if it all goes wrong you let go of the bar and the kite depowers. raily kiteloops and F16' are a sinch once you get the technique down.

Good luck with the loops.

You can do kiteloop transitions without boosting at 11 o'clock then dive the kite back down to 45 and travel.
You can also do them if you carve too hard upwind and stall yourself to power out again, all without leaving the water.
It is best to do these in light winds as if you loop on the water in the power zone with your board pointing downwind your toast.
It's a thing that once you have the info you just have to try it.Your always gonna get hammered learning them, it's part of it isn't it?

Forgot to mention that i had the kite on the slowest settings (back lines) as I was experimenting with the bar pressure. I'll change it to the quicker settings and see how we go.

Even when i was doing the downloops though, I would downloop from almost the top of the window and the kite would only clear the water by a meter or two (overall pretty wide arc)... I'm thinking you'd have to go pretty damn large on a 10m to get the kite up to zenith for a fast but smooth landing.

See how we go on the 7...

I was doing carving downloop transitions today on my 2008 12m switchy. starting with the kite at 45 degrees it had heaps of room to clear the water. Seems to me that either you're not fishpoling the bar or you're not sheeting in hard enough. the 2010 10 m should get round in a pretty tight arc if you really yank it.

im guessing the bar wasnt pulled in all the way. ive looped a 14m switchy, ofcourse the kite wasnt fast enough to catch me but the kite still made a loop and 14m has a bigger arc to turn so having the settings to slow shouldnt make too much of a difference.
