Spit on it, lay it on a very smooth, solid surface (like a bench top), work that spit into the knot, then gently tap away at the knot with a hammer/ rolling pin/ empty glass bottle. Lather, rinse and repeat.
Every couple of minutes try with your fingernails to pull the knot apart.
Also chewing on the knot can achieve the same result
