Hi all, yesterday I found 2 knots in my lines. One in a steering line and one in a power line. After following the advice to gently chew the knots and work out with an object (I used the eye end of a sewing needle) I managed to remove them in about 45 mins. The lines look OK where the knots used to be, although you can see that there has been some sort of trauma by comparing those sections to the rest of the lines. I was wondering what to look for in order to determine that the lines will hold up? They do not appear freyed, just look a little weaker than the rest of the lines (sorry it's hard to explain exactly what I mean). I'll try and get a few pics up this evening if I can.

Rtlm - how old are your lines?
If your lines are less than a few years old and there is no visible fraying i wouldnt worry about it.


Elhucko - All knots will reduce the strength of your lines, from 20% to over 50% loss of line strength. id suggest you were lucky that the line broke rather than ripping your kite apart.
Take is as a lesson to never fly with unnecessary knots in your lines. it should only take 5 or 10 mins to get the knot out.
