i had a crash today and kite went down. Main cause was deflate valve popped out and I was really click to get to it so confident no water got in but will double check it.

But when re inflating kite I noticed the slider on the zipper for bladder replacement was gone altogether, I'm not sure if it gone already or in that incident. Packed up kite, and will check local sailmaker to see if they can replace it, but I'm wondering is it critical that it be repaired it's hard to see that it would make a lot of difference. Maybe a weak spot on leading edge.

any thoughts or suggestions appreciated

Cheers
Richard

yes.

for the love of god do not pump up the kite if the zipper is open, the bladder will balloon out and blow up. like a bomb.

Well sort of. You were only lucky most likely because the under-zipper flap was in place. That's the piece of vinyl or plastic that goes flat between the zipper and the bladder. It's there to prevent any punctures from the plastic bits of the zipper damaging your bladder. Hence why when you open that zipper, make sure that flap bit is back in place, flat and fully covering the area away from the zipper.
Here's a tip. If you're out travelling and the zipper itself pops out, you can use the flap to hold it all together with a bit of string and a needle (yeah I carry a repair kit every time I go out), and just do a simple zig-zag around the zipper a few times. Deflate first of course. AT least the kite will hold until you get that zipper repaired.
