Hi everyone,
I am going on a vacation to Plantation Island Resort, on the Malolo island group - Fiji, and I was hoping to give kiteboarding a go.
Can anyone recommend a place to learn the basics? I have found one or two places nearby that say they are "known for its excellent kiteboarding", but nothing really explaining whether I can get lessons or not.

Most places in Fiji are bring your own gear & experience
As far as I know Plantation, Musket & Lomani don't have lessons or gear to hire.
Many Fiji resorts advertise kitesurfing,
A few may provide boat support,
For the experienced Tavarua & Namotu are a short boat ride away with many good surf breaks at the right time of year.
One that offers lessons is Safari Lodge. but it's nowhere near Malolo.
You may be better off having lessons at your local then venturing further out as your skills improve.

Thanks for that.
I will have a lurk on these forums, and see if I can pick up a trainer kite for cheap, then go to Kitepower.

Regarding resale or reuse of trainer kites once I have learned the basics from them:
I have noticed that a lot of trainer kite descriptions mention that they can be used on skateboards for a bit of fun in lighter winds.
In winter I love backcountry skiing, and I sometimes wish for an easier way to get around on the flats and up gradual hills. Can people use these trainer kites as effective uphill travel on the snow? Might be a good thing to have in the backpack for a bit of fun!
