If you go with one strap, when you go out and get a bit of air the board tends to skew a bit. I found that moving my back foot up closer to the front strapped in foot made the landings more managable. I'm not talking massive airs, just the ones you can't help doing.
It all took me a bit but, with both straps on turning and changing feet and riding toeside isn't that much of a hassle.
Good luck, it can be a learning curve but thats the fun of it all
