I've got a 2010 Naish bar, 20m lines and it came with 4m extensions.

I usually like to add the extensions when the wind is under 20 knots. I find it gives me the extra pop I need to water start whe the wind drops a little.

Now the issue I have is the grey centre lines have a larks head on either end (there is a larks head on the end of my grey bar lines) but the rear lines have larks head and knot. Why couldn't they do the same with the centre lines?

I end up going larks head through larks head to join them but after the session this becomes incredibly hard to undo.

So is there an easier way to conect them?

Oh and I'm not going to put the larks head the the open loop of the other line because of fear of the stitch coming undone on the sleaving.
And Please don't tell me that naish is crap and to get a better kite.... I have what I have.

thanks guys
Cheers !!!!!

They really shouldn't be that hard to undo- I've never had problems taking them on n off.

That said, I do now leave one of my bars with the 4m extns on and have another bar with standars 20m lines on.... I can only hope the wind in this Godforsaken place is one day strong enough to warrant me using the 20m set

Well by incredibly hard I mean instead of the 2 seconds it takes to detach a larks head from your kite it takes about 5 minutes with a metal spike to undo them. It's the way two larks head knots clamp on each other combine with the expanded sleaving. You eventually get them undone, it just takes time.

I figure I'll just make up some 5cm bits of rope with a stopper knot at either end and then let out my back lines a knot to compensate for the longer centre lines.

Get some Amsteel or similar line from a yachting shop and make a mini-pigtail out of it to use as a joiner. 2-3mm thick would be heaps.

Double over a short length and tie a knot and you have a knot and a loop together.

if you dont have a pigtail as used in pic any piece of 4-5 mm cord in a clove hitch to form a knot to pull against

Perfect pirrad!!!!!

Thanks for that. I did make up some 5cm lengths with stopper knots at the end but is is even better as I don't need to adjust the rear lines every time I remove/put on the extensions. (on my bar the rear lines are adjusted under the foam on the bar).

Thanks for the help and going to the trouble of posting a pic!!!

Cheers!

Its hard to explain, but here's an attempt.
Grip/pinch the lines very firmly with your thumb and forefinger, and twist them back and forth, wet them if and do the same twist if doing it dry does not loosen them. Lines should be easy to undo after a few twists in either direction, if this does not make sense bring you bar and lines to the shop and I'll show you.

Thanks for that it. Yes it does make sense. I'll give that one a go next time I fly with extension. Cheers.
