Hi There !!!

I just started to learn kite surfing. I am looking for someone who wants to learn kiting who lives in Adelaide as none of my mates want to do it.

It is easier to learn with someone than on my own as you loose the board a lot when you first start. In addition you need someone to launch and land the bigger kites till you get good at it. With two people we can swap the kite while the other person keeps an eye on the kiter and board ... etc Like an observer till the skill is mastered. I don't really want to pay $$ for someone to walk after me while I do all the work.

I have taken 3 lessons and know what to do so if you are serious about kiting, have taken at least one lesson and have the gear then we can go out together. You can give me a hand as I have all the gear. I will also save you $$ on the extra lessons as they will not be required. I know what needs to be done so it is just a matter of getting out there and doing it as it involves muscle memory. It will be a lot easier learning in pairs which will accelerate the learning process. We will both benefit that way. In addition it will be safer as if the kiter gets into trouble the other person will be able to help them out.

I saw a few new guys use this method (two guys one on the kite and the other helping out). I think it is the best way to learn and there will be less chance of loosing the board or damaging the kite ;-)

So if any of you guys or gals are interested let me know and we will work something out.

Cheers,

Mikoman

I think you would be better off with experienced kiters, for one they will be able to give you some tips on your stance, how to go upwind and what to do to progress, secondly they will actually be able to help you out when on the water (rather than watching from the shore... oh noes, my mate lost his board 300m from shore... etc), and you wont have to worry about stopping to give the other bloke a go. You need ya own gear, sharing wouldnt be any good. As far as launching goes, go to a place where there are other kiters and ask some one to launch you (well, not just anyone, someone who knows what they are doing, you should also tell them that your learning so they know to check for odd things going on)

You could probabily just head down to the local and talk to some people and see if they wouldnt mind keeping an eye out for you, some beers afterwards would be nice for the crew too, they will always want to help you out then.

good luck

Hey!

Although practicing with an experience kiteboarder seems like the best way to learn, I don't think going in pair with another begginer is a bad idea. I'm a begginer aswell and would defenitly partner up with you. I will not be in Australia until October, so if you are not a pro by then or have'nt found anybody look me up! Until then good luck!

When i was learning i had a couple of lessons, got the kite working right but couldnt seem to get up on the board. A few guys gave me there ideas as to why but it wasnt until i had another lesson with someone who really knew there stuff that i got it. Having someone with experience watching you can give you little pointers that others overlook.
