Hi All,
I've had a few lessons, spent my time on the trainer kite and am at the point where I just need hours in the water. I've stood up on the board, but not for long.
I've been procrastinating for 12 months now, every time I go to head out I get psyched out due to being on my own. I'm not really good at just approaching random people on the beach and asking for a launch either.
I'm sure there are others in a similar situation. I'm located at North Lakes, but pretty happy to meet anywhere from Noosa to the Tweed. Wherever there is a good newbie spot with some stable wind.
I'm 25 btw....not sure if that matters or not.

Most people are nervous about asking for a launch when they first start but dont worry just ask, i havent had one person refuse me yet. Just let them know your new and they will be able to help you out by telling you to walk further upwind/downwind etc if you head to sandgate or Brighton you will have instructors or team riders there and ask them if your not confident of asking a complete stranger (they are the ones in shop rashies)

Cheers man yeah will still need to get some help for a launch even with a buddy...can't help launch once your kites up. Still would like a mate to share the ****ness of being new, plus the stoke of getting better.

Next time your up the sunny coast book a lesson with adventure sports in Noosa and get them to show you lake weyba and water launching. It will teach you in a safe environment to self launch and recover in the water, and when your on the beach on your own you will be confident and able to launch on the sand.
Thats not to say you shouldnt just front up and ask any and everyone for a launch on you beach. However lake weyba is and awesome spot to learn and gain confidence.
