Hey guys, I'm getting my first kiteboarding lesson on May 1st and I'm totally stoked! Just wondering if anyone could give me some gear suggestions? I weigh 220lbs and I'll be kiting in light wind in Ontario Canada, some locals have told me I need a kite size around 14m.
So far I'm looking at the cabrinha switchblade 14m, airush lithium 14m, best kahoona 13.5m and Liquid force Havoc 14m.
I'm trying to find used gear, but I can't seem to find anything decent in my area.
Any opinions on those kites or any others would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Not sure about the Liquid Force, but the other two will do just fine if you can find them. Both are good kites to learn on.

In Canada I wouldnt look any further than Ocean Rodeo. They are your local brand - been around since day dot - make a brilliant beginner kite - the Prodigy.
Should be heaps of 2nd hand OR's around but if you need help contact them direct & ask for Ned. Great service.

You are definitely on the right track with the style of kite you are considering.

dibs on OR, great kites,
out of the ones you mentioned I would drop the Switchie and the Havoc and stick with the Lithium, Kahoona. LF's Envy is way better to learn on than the Havoc.
Epic Renegades are awesome kites also.
If you can afford 2 kites go for a 16/17m and a 13/11. This covers you for more winds than your one kite quiver.
When having your lessons insist on trying a seat harness. I swear you won't go back to the waist for a long time after. An a big TT is the way to go, 150 x44 min for you (speshially in LW's). Once your up and riding, and you get new gear, you'll always have a LW option. Awesome!
Happy days
