Hey
Just wondering if there is a special technique for self launching sigma style kites?

After you have found a quiet spot to suss it out, the most important thing, because of its shape, is to make sure that the kite is pumped up properly to 7psi.

No need to pull on any of the lines. If the wind is over 15 knots it should self launch easily with your hands on the bar.

Thanks Elroy.
I'll give it a go tomorrow if the wind is up. I was just a little concerned with the setup in how to keep it in one place while I go from the kite to the bar. Then the launching process from there on. Is it just the same as other SLE kites? I still use the sand over the bent wingtip method when there is no one there to help launch.

The sand on the wingtip method won't work with a cult if it's inlated properly. The leading edge won't bend over on itself.

Yer that's what I have been guessing and trying to explain. I should have been more comprehensive in my question.
I have seen someone self launching one on the beach by themselves but was a while ago. From what I can remember they just had the LE faced down into the sand. I'm not sure what they did after that

Get someone on the beach to show you, or just watch while some one does it. It's easy to do, but if you do it wrong, you could hurt your self or someone else.
Having someone close by the first few times you try it could help out if anything goes awry as well.

Thanks for the response. I think there is a guy down at windang who has a helix so I'll go see how he does it. Then have a go in light wind.
Cheers
