Hello, I've seen a few people with their name and number written on their board with a sharpie or similar.

I'd like to do this myself, but would like to know I could remove it if I sold the board. Does this stuff come off with methylated spirits or similar?

Any advice on a pen that will be both waterproof and removable with a substance that also doesn't dissolve the board? Thanks.

I did this on my first kite and board and it did not really help when selling the kite.
I am currently trying to get my hands on sail tape (any idea where to find that kind of stuff in Melbourne?) and then write my name & number on the tape.

Thanks W-Ed. Good idea on the tape. If you have any joy, let me know, and I'll do the same. Perhaps a chat with your friendly sailing club would help.

Use a Sharpie pen. You can clean it off with metho or eucalyptus.

Write your name and number on the board on the bottom of the board next to each of the fins. It wears off if you write it on the fins.

Most kites have a manufacturer's label with patent and made in stuff on it. There is room to write your details on their. The label is non porous so it is easy enough to clean it off. Cabrinha have an owners label for you to write stuff on.

If you want your details so you can identify stolen kites then open the leading edge zip and write your name and number inside as well.

Texta removable with acetone. Rinse off well.

TIP - put your name or phone no. under one of your pads - as well as the viewable one.If you ever find your board where it may have been stolen, or found & for sale, the cops wont do anything for you unless you can provide an identifying mark which you couldnt have seen by looking at the board. Not too many thieves out there will bother to take the pads off.
Otherwise - if you dont have a receipt with the serial no. the thief/finder gets to keep it.

I went to local engraver and got name and number and reward offered on small aluminun piece as long as the handel and 50mm wide then screwed it down with handel screws . Looks really neat and tidy and can remove for resale ect . Only cost $10 for engraving small cost for it in the end . Marker pen for under footpads is a good idea that i have done too .

I put a piece of clear wide packing tape on the board first. I write my details on that and then put another piece ontop of that. It keeps the ink off the boards surface and never rubs off until you pull the tape off. I would be nervous about using any chemicals on a boards surface. If any tape adhesive gets stuck on the board use another piece of tape to stick to the adhesive and pull it off like you were giving it a Brazilian

Do what I did with my surfboards, resin your license no in. It's somewhat permanent but can be sanded back and removed back to original resin. You need a surfboard repair kit. Simply put your details / business card on the board, next to the fins or pads and glass over with a clean piece of fibreglass cloth. Resin over, sand back lightly and presto!

Hi Guys,

Please DO NOT use Acetone on your board!!!!

Use hair spray as the texta is cellulose based and will come off easier and cleaner without messing up your board.

Acetone is an extremely harsh solvent and will melt the epoxy.
