Looking to get my third kite and am going for a smaller kite.

Right now I've got:
Core Xr3 10m kite - 15-25 knots.
Core Xr2 15m kite - 10-17 knots.

Weight 82kgs.

I've got a tt and a north WAM.

Thinking of getting a 7 or 8m kite to fill in the gap from 25-30+ knots, Ideally I want something I can use from 20 knots to 30+(maybe 32-35 max?) as the winds in Melbourne don't really get that strong I want to get something I'll get the most use out of.

Would the 7m take me from about 22-25 knots to 35 max?? Or should I get an 8m so I can use it around 20ish knots to 30 and get more use out of it?

Thinking of a 7m RMP would that and my Wam 6" work in 20 knots?

Thanks in advance.

The core website has the wind ratings for their kites.
corekites.com/us/support/support-manuals

I haven't had much to do with Core brands but i have a 9 metre LF Envy that i have used up to 30 knots so the 8 might be the way to go as the website had the 10 range 12-28 and the 8 has 15-33. Depends how often it gets around 35 knots i guess.
Have you got a shop you can talk to also? They could probably advise you better from experience.

I've been out in 28knots gusting 32 on my 10, was just no fun getting blown all over the place. Was thinking of maybe trying a different brand like slingshot or maybe ozone. Thanks for the info.

FYI I'm 82-85 kg and I am on a 8m at 23-24 knots, board is small.. Calibre 135-41, 18-25 10m and 12-18 is my zephyr.

8 + 10 are parks.. Heaps of depower i have had the 8 up to 35 knot in gusty squalls.. Just had it sitting on the edge of window at 3oclock pulling me along

Sounds like a 7 might be too small for me, might go with an 8M something. Cheers for the info!

The thing I found is that the board size plays almost the same effect as the kite size... Each increase in board size (width) will change your range by about 1/2 a knot...

6-7 m rally or a 7m prodigy, those c style kites are going to be super twitchy in this wind.
I am using a 7m dice and it's too fast for what I want. I hate switchies but I previously used a 2013 siren 6m from my gf and it was awesome.
