So many years ago in my first attempt at getting into kiteboarding I bought an ex-demo 2003 Airush Flow 9m. Now it's my second attempt at getting into the sport and I've bought some more modern gear - easier relaunch, better safety systems etc. The bar setup is very different on the old kite - the safety leash attaches to your wrist and flags to a single trailing edge steering line. There is no bridle either, the lines attach direct to the corners of the kite, both front and back. Would using a more modern bar (I have a spare Liquid Force CPR bar) be an option? Or am I better off giving it to that crowd making duffle bags out of old kites? Last I checked the kite was still in flyable condition.

Never fly it. Give it to someone who makes coats/wallets/duffels. Once more - never fly it.

Just sell it to some newb off gum tree!!... JK um not only are those kites pretty dangerous but valves/seams/pigtails basically EVERY stress point would need to be checked thoroughly before a fly even if it has just sat there. Unless maybe it was fresh water washed and dried before storage but even I wouldnt trust it with potentially my life (those kites don't fully de power on flag out)

Get a newer kite man. They are so much better and who knows you may stick at it this time because the equipment is so much easier to use.

I actually use old kites and turn them into single-skin depower foils. The material is still good. It's the design and shape of those kites that are out-dated.

Keep it, store it, and use it when you get good, It will be a real eye opener. make sure you do use it with plenty of down wind room.
and No, later bars will not work unless the front lines are 'Y'ing at same point.

Totally agree with this. I got given a windwing 17m C kite and it makes me extremely grateful for never having to use the old school stuff when I was learning, but for the right conditions now, it's actually a bit of retro fun.
