Hi all,

Just looking at wind forecast for Thursday (my day off) and I wanted to head out kiting, but the wind is SW, to SSW

I really want to head out for some more practice body dragging in the water...

The map on the NSWKBA says that in a SW, or SSW there are only a few good options close to Sydney:
- Yarra Bay
- Boat Harbour (but need a 4x4, or must walk about a km from Wanda)
- Long Reef
- Palm Beach (Pittwater side)

But what about Kitesurfing in the Royal National Park - eg:
- Garie Beach looks like it could maybe work in a Southerly?

and further South, Stanwell Park (beach) also looks like it could work.

But there are no markers on the maps on the NSWKBA regarding these places.

Also, wondering: Would Dolls Point be worth going to...?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think Longreef (or any northern beaches) are any good if there's any westerly in it ... that will just send you off shore.
I'm only new as well though, so can't really comment on other good locations

Longreef in a sw or ssw is a no go!!! palmbeach pittwater side is not a place for learning hard to launch kite, seats trees with timber frames built around them were you set up and launch, boats and sea planes and trees near the shore if you cant get back to were you started from . Not a place for body dragging .SW on the northern beachs pretty much means no kite surfing.

If you're happy to travel, the central coast has some spots that take westerlies

Check the NSWKBA map

(take a friend, westerlies are gusty)

Dolls works in a SWer. I've kited there many times in SW. It is relatively smooth as well. Would not recommend Garie since the high cliffs behind you can interfer with the wind. Not sure about Stanwell.
