It's ok, that advice was for free.
I agree with you here. Self launching is a crucial skill as there will be times when no one else is around. Its extremely easy even in higher winds.
Dont totally agree...
there are times ( alone ) when a tether launch is the only option,yes this depends on the area you launch from and the room and wind direction needed.
If launching standing on the shore with kite in water for example...a tether launch is much safer than a self drift launch.
I doubt an hrs lesson or even a two hr lesson will give you the confidence to self launch any where but in the perfect conditions on a beach.
Dont know about the kite launch systems but the Aussie wombat looks the goods.As far as tethering from a fence post make sure its solid and concreted in as it will pull out if kite climbs high still attached.
Any way thats my 5c worth
