Hi guys,

Was just hoping for some advice on what would be a good start up kit for the Mackay area.

What size board and kites would I be looking at for a 6'2, 98kg guy?

I have previously wakeboarded for a couple of years and own a 142 board, would I be able to use that? Or better to get something kiteboarding specific?

Looking at getting a few lessons locally first as well and then buying some second hand gear to start off with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Better off getting a kite board cause bindings are for kooks.
And do you have a local kite shop...???
If so pop in and have a chat.

I have a 12 metre and a 140 cm Kiteboard.

I am relatively new to the sport, but find I have been progressing very quickly on that setup, however I am 80 kgs, so you would need at least a 13m.

Hi grimlock

I'm a newbie also ~93kgs in Central Qld. I started on a 14m which was good as we need the extra power cause our technique is sadly lacking.........my technique is still lacking, but just not so badly now. I have now bought an 11m as my "normal kite". I would go second hand for the first larger kite as it definitely won't get as much use once you are staying upwind consistently.
