Hi All,

I started a few weeks back and I am at the point where i am geting on the board (be it for 5 meters ). Anyway, I am having trouble going out as much as I could as I dont have a regular kiting buddy to go out with, and Im a bit reluctant to go out by on my own. I know the techniques of self launching / landing but not game enough to try it when its just me, plus theres the kitemare situation if I get myself into Sh!t!. The times I have gone out are with mates from work, but they are always busy when the wind is cranking, or they are injured, so yea...I just have not been able to hit the water as much as I would like.

Anyways, whos willing to show a noob the ropes

Cheers,

Mussie

How wonderful that I am not the only one.I have had my lessons, they say I am good to go,I have invested $2500 in my gear,I live just down the road from the waterfront at Sandgate.I am free most days. What is my problem? When you are not confident with something, you tend to rush and make mistakes.I dont want to hurt anybody...Going out alone is fraught with messy possabilities, especially since it can be quite crowded out there. At $80 per hour it is expensive babysitting.I am not so much afraid,I kind of like controlled fear-I guess I dont feel a confident level of control.I know kiters are a friendly bunch but their kite time is limited. If I were 25 and leggy,I could probably find a volunteer easily but I am a 45 year old female and I would like to have kite friends that I might have something in common with.So is there anybody who would give me a good day of their time, long enough to get over the first time alone factor.I am sure once I cross that line,I will be fine.I am even willing to pay for the time.Anyway, its out there...

Why not just head back down to the beach you had your lessons at and ask the instructor if he/she can help get you started? Just explain to them that your hesitant to get out there by yourself - confidence thing.
I'm sure if it's a warm day then a 6-pack will suffice for payment. ;)

Hey,

I'm in sandgate and at the moment I have done an injury (hip and knee). I'm at a decent level and have just returned from Boracay Phillipines kiting. I live in Sandgate, would be prepared give u a hand. Question is, do u have your own gear, what is it and who did u get your lessons with. PM me the details and when the wind is on I can help.

I'm in a pretty similar situation. One lesson, 2500 grand spent on gear. Went out yesterday and am fine running downwind but still not confident in choosing a suitable location, conditions etc.

Does anyone kite in the Port Macquarie area? I've lived here for a few months now and still haven't seen any. I'd be really keen to hook up with anyone who doesn't mind a new guy tagging along.
