Hi guys.

I'm interested in buying a quiver of rebels this year. I weigh 92kg and currently have a 1 kite quiver: 9m convert (beginner kite).

Judging from the last season in Perth, which brought us a lot of just 13 / 14 knot days I was thinking of a 9m and a 12m.

However I got advised to go for a 7m for the big winds and a 10m as my main kite which should get me going up to about 14 /15 knots.

just wondering what is every ones experience on the windrange of the rebels? I heard it's good but i really want to be able to go out on the 14 knot days and I'm just not sure if a 10m would cut it?

I've got a 10m rebel and weigh 82kilos, ride a surfboard and with my low skill level ( learnt in feb this year) I find 15 knots marginal. Have to do lots of up and down and struggle to stay up wind. Ok in the gusts but buggered in the lulls.

I reckon you would need to go quite a bit bigger with your extra weight for 14 to 15 knots.
Or a lot bigger board I guess. I have a 6 foot WAM.

Hope this helps a little.

First season newb, got an 11m 2012 rebel a couple of months ago...~93kegs. I find on my 137tt the bottom end is around 15kts but really needs 17kts........on the 166 monster spleene tt that I just got, it stays upwind easily enough in 12....I am sure someone with better flying skills could go lower than this.

13m rebel is my main kite this season gets me out in 12-13 kts easily on a TT , can hold it down confortably over 25 kts I weigh 115 kg , at your weight go the 12 you won't look back , if your looking for a bit more grunt try a 12 fuse , I recon the fuse flys better than the rebel.

Hi akwa
Im pretty much same weight as you, all indications are that we are going to have a much better season than the previous two. I ride North's and for Perth at your weight 10/7 is the optimal quiver. The 10 will kick in at 15 and you'll be able to ride the 7 from about 24.
The 12 gives you 2 knots better lower end but is much slower than the 10. In Perth most seabreeze days are 18-25, buy your main kite to fit near to this and you'll get good value and use, if you go 12/9 you'll spend a lot more time putting away your 12 and pumping your 9, than you will riding the 12.
