Hey all,
Just got back from a recent trip in Boracay, Philippines. Spent about 15 hours all up kite surfing there. Was using crazy fly kites. To be honest I found them OK, but wouldn't say I loved them. Although not much experience makes it hard to judge against anything else.
Anyway, now I'm back in Adelaide, and looking to buy my first kite. Pretty hard for me to demo anything (not a lot of shops selling kite gear in Adelaide), so will need a bit of help to narrow down the kite that I should purchase.
I'm 75kg and going to be buying a 10m kite (generally winds are between 15-24 knots that I would be out in). I would probably buy a second smaller kite in the future.
Its always surf chop here where I will be riding (Henley Beach). I could see myself loving big airs, I love freestyle and I also love a kite with great upwind capability. Also I like a reasonably sensitive bar feel (which kind of rules out the new bandit which I was looking at). Apart from that I think my style of riding would pretty much include everything, so would like a versatile kite to suit.
Lastly, I would be buying new, and probably 2016.
I do have some kites in mind, but will see what is suggested first.
Thanks!

You sound fairly similar to me in weight and style and local conditions
I just bought a 8m Core xr with sensor 2 bar,
cost a bomb, and the kite is amazing, but it's the bar that really sets it apart
the auto-unwind means I backroll on my good side all day and never have to untwist the lines
and unlike all the other brands this one actually works.
I demoed the Ikon Peak, also a great kite, but they don't make an 8m so not for me
I demoed the Airush Union, but I guarantee you're better of with the Lithium
another kite that fits the mould is the Cabrinha FX, but by the time I demoed the Core I was settled so Cabrinha didn't get a look-in
I thought the Naish Pivot would be amazing, but I only thought it was good
In summary, if you have the money, buy the Core xr
to save money buy the Airush Lithium or the Ikon peak
and demo the the Cabrinha FX just because I didn't
