Is there any way? Or is it really game over.

I've had it happen to me a few times, (mainly when i'm turning the kite too aggressively through the window as i'm changing directions or crashing the kite after attempting a back roll)...the kite manages to get up and flying with the steering inverted, I'm wondering if there is anything else I can do rather than going in?

kite is too soft and needs to be pumped up hard..

Your kite is like a house roof. If it's not strong and has integrity the roof will fall in...

Same goes for your kite as it's your frame for the canopy. If it's soft it will invert. Pump it up rock hard and say goodbye to inverting..

hope this helps as it's a common thing that is easy to fix.

Thanks, i will give it a few more pumps next time.

I think am being a bit cautious about over inflating, is it easy to do once you have it 'rock' hard?

it's not always to do with not pumping up the kite enough. This has been discussed several times before - more information in the below threads

same issue here.. I tend to have it when my kite hits the water and I still have momentum.. when you hold tension in your lines while you still have momentum it keeps it from inverting. Do this by edging upwind while your kite is already in the water and you're still riding..

It is possible to correct the inverted lines on the water...depending on kite ( and particularly how far up the front line/ lines split)
My method for this goes a bit like this

Fly the kite to the edge of the wind window wing tip on the water
Disconnect leash
Reach forward and grab front lines/line at the point just before it splits into two ( you may have to pull in a metre or more)
You are now holding all the kites power ( hardly any on a bow/ hybrid but can still have some pull on a c ) in just the front lines in your hand
Now unhook the chicken loop
Pass the bar through the front lines in the opposite direction as they are entwined
Hook in
Connect leash
Ease out or just release front lines ( better to ease out to minimize any shock loading on your lines)

Done

A similar method can be used even when just one line is entwined which simply requires you to twist the bar to 90deg and rolling it. ..... Very hard to describe though.

Done this method a few times before and it works a treat...HOWEVER if your not evperienced with deathlooping stay away has a potential for disaster, it has happened!

I can be saved, but generally safer to sail it in, land and fix the problem on the beach...

+1
I was on a Rev2 one day in gusty conditions. Had the kite fall and invert (all my fault) . when i unhooked my leach and proceeded to pas my bar through the centre lines like Harry Potter described, the kite was hit by a solid gust and things went wrong. I was now unhooked with no safety and the kite just picked me up like a rag doll. There was nothing at all down wind of me so i just let it go. Was lucky enough for some guys i was kiting with salvaged the kite before it hit land. Since then i have just left it go, rode in and sorted it out on the beach. Much safer.
