Starting to feel more confident in unhooking and trying raileys. Pain to move the donkey dick in and out of the chicken loop. Any harm in riding without one? positives vs negatives? cheers

Just make sure your leash is connected properly, and put the d!ck in for launching and landing.

I think you missed the point Dojo.
Ezee's asking if you can permanently remove the donkey dick - to which the answer is yes. It makes launching and landing a little more sketchy as you've gotta remember not to pull the bar all the way in otherwise you'll accidentally unhook.

Other than that, does it really take THAT much effort to slip the donkey dick out of the way? What kite are you flying (ie. what chicken loop setup)?

Yes I misread it. Sorry.

You don't have to cut it off if it interferes with hooking back in. You can cable-tie it to the side of the chicken loop.

Flying switchblades. And yeah, it kinda is an effort to pull it out and in before and after unhooking. I might just take dojo's advice and stick the sucker in for launching and landing. Thanks fellas

I learnt to kite pre-donkey, and it was something you just learned to deal with. Every once and a while you would end up unhooked at an inopportune time and it would often end in a crash / kite release.

Unless the thing really bugs you maybe just leave it on but don't hook it in, that way you can still hook it up if / when you want it...

ha ha ha so true..... Not a good feeling when you go for massive boost and pulling the bar down hard only to find yourself white knuckled dangling straight under the kite 10m up
