Hi all, I've recently moved to Safety Bay and am looking to take a few lessons. From what I can tell there are a couple of places that offer them, some involving an instructor out there with you and others with the instructor on the beach communicating with you through a headset. Which is better? I can see the benefits/drawbacks in both but wanted to get some more experienced opinions.

Also, I've been told that it's getting pretty close to the end of Perths awesome summer breezes and moving into the more advanced winter conditions. Would it be advisable to put off getting into this sport until next summer? I'm really keen to get going asap but don't want to end up draped over the power lines

cheers.

Just get out and get some lessons. I learned through WASurf and had a positive experiance about this time last year. No sense in putting it off really.

WestOz Kiteboarding are the people who use headsets. Strongly recommend them Jason has been kiting since the beginning and really knows his stuff great people to deal with and have a school set up right there at Safety Bay.

From the perspective of another newb who's spent time learning at both spots, where west oz run their lessons has less traffic than the pond meaning you have more time to think about what it is you are doing rather than what everyone else is doing, hence you'll probably learn faster. Haven't done lessons with either but it's worth having a think about.
