I'm now on my second season of kitesurfing, I kite down on Melville waters in Perth due to being based near Midland (and I've no love of sharks). I picked up all the gear I needed to start surfing second-hand off a guy who was around my weight and height.

At this stage I feel I'm progressing ok, I can easily move upwind on my smaller 7m Ozone Instinct Sport II, but the larger 10.5m Naish Cult Sigma (who the hell thinks up these stupid word chains?) is pretty tough to do the same. The Naish is a much older kite, 2008? I think, which may or may not make a difference. I weigh approximately 80kg, 1.84m tall and the board I have is 1315mm long, by 405mm wide.

Now I gather from doing some reading lately that the board I have is probably too small for my weight. I'm wondering if it would be advisable to look into a larger board, or my issues with the larger kite and travelling upwind are just inexperience or an older kite (or a combination of the two).

Oh and thanks to the random citizen who found my board in the water today at Melville! Spent a long time looking for it, found someone elses while I was searching, so I think my Karma is back to 0
