hey austin
i personally like stomp pad and heaps of front foot wax on a surfboard when riding strapless - but come from surfing background, just wax all the way back to stomp pad though as you sometimes bring that back foot up into the gap when jibing etc.
pulse, how powered up was your kite? a common mistake from that (sick fun too) powered up mode when strapped seems to be not depowering the kite enough (or down sizing kite a size or two)
i find when strapless you should almost have the depower adjusted to an "unhooked level" of power when bar is pulled fully in, ie the flying of the kite generates all the power you need and the board riding does the rest (with you then depowering as required etc) - you might be scared you will not have enough pull in the lulls but you can ride them out on a surfboard by planing more, and the benefits when on a wave can't be described
