Hi there, just wondering if anyone can throw
A couple tips my way?
So I ride strapless in the surf no problem.
Just the thing that is holding me back a bit
is the ability to go up wind toeside.
I can get plenty of speed if I go down wind
a bit but this means I'm going faster than the waves so I can't get on them.
If I try to go slower and more up wind I find
I loose too much power and end up going
too slow to get on the wave.
Any tips would be awesome!

Cheers
Harry

Hi Harry, could you be edging too hard when trying to go upwind? - if this maybe the case, try not edging as hard and use your fins (push downwind with your back foot) to point your nose upwind.

If you over edge and try to head too far upwind too early, and then the kite starts to stall, point the board downwind and regenerate power to the kite. With toe side, you really have to ease into carving up wind. Low kite, means better body position and more power. More weight on the front foot driving the board like a snowboard, (all front foot).
I tend to hold my ground toeside and can easily go up wind, but unless all I am doing is holding ground I will jybe and switch stance. When I set up to do a run down the beach I am always on my natural stance, going left or right.

Switch your stance and ride heel side all the time!
