A while ago on my BWS Noise kite, one of the back lines (called P-lines) broke.
I bought the original replacement ones and replaced them myself. However now it very much feels like the back lines are too long. I cannot power up the kite much because the bar sits very close to the swivel so I have not much way to pull it in. Also it barely turns and I really have to yank the line with the other hand to get it to turn faster.

Overall completely different to before the P-line broke and unflyable this way.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Is it a matter of just adding knots to the back lines until it feels normal again?

Sounds like your front lines have shrunk.

Yeh I'd say your originals have shrunk, so to compensate you could/ stretch, buy longer pigtails ,new lines or shorten new lines at the bar/ under floats or multi knot or shorter rear pigtails, 1st check all line lengths on a fixed point, this is done at full power (trim and bar), they should all be close to a similar length, personally I'd get the complete set, if then it flew out of whack it'd be a bridal shrinkage problem

New set as in: new pig tails and new lines for the bar?

I did buy new pig tails because I was going to replace the old ones anyway. But I doubt the pig tails shrink much??
So it's likely the front bridal or the lines I'd say?

You describe the kite having excessive slack in the back lines/ steering?
The are multiple ways to correct this
Increase length to centre lines by
Stretching them on a fixed point
Buy longer pigtails for bridal which in turn lengthens lines adding multiple knots at 30 mm increments give finer tuning
Buy a new set to match, (lines)
Or reduce length of steering lines by
Adding knots to your pigtails to shorten steering/back lines or some bars have adjustments under the bar floats
Your basically trying to make all equal in length, understanding how to tune your kite can give you some extra performance from your standard settings, also refining responsiveness
I'd recommend 1st to check line lengths as I discribed in previouse post, pretty sure there's some youtube videos,

All 4 of your lines have shrunk, so when you replaced the steering lines, they would be a tad longer, depowering your kite.
You can fix this in multiple ways:

Make new knots for the steering lines that are a tad shorter

Add new centre lines

Stretch your current centre lines

Add extensions to your current lines

See if you can tune the lines at the bar, I know I had to do this with my old bandit - there were 4 or 5 knots on the steering lines i could adjust to compensate for line shrinkage.

All of these fixes simply even out your line lengths, there is a video that describes that here:

Let me know if this doesn't help

Thanks a lot for all the helpful replies. I have noticed a few things. The previous owner had put knots into the pig tails at the kite end (not the bar end) in the bridal, I also replaced the big tails with brand new ones, and they are definitely longer by an inch or so.

I have also reconfigured the pigtails to work with my newer bar that I know is even, so I can use both kites with just one bar.

I hope this will solve my issues with it, otherwise I'll post back here.

Right so I replaced those pig tails on the kite (and it did lengthen the front lines by an inch or so) and modified them so that I could use my newer bar.
Went out on Sat arvo when there was just enough wind to fly the kite and sure enough, what a huge difference this has made. The kite is much more responsive again, although I will need to wait for more wind to take it out for a ride to know for sure.

Thanks again for all the useful input.

Yeah it was just around 8 knots I'd say in Manly. It was just enough to keep it in the air but had to loop it frequently.
