Dear all,
for playing with un-hooked tricks and moves would you suggest to use leash attached in suicide mode( at chicken-loop) or at the total depower ring ususally indicated by the producers...
good points and bad points for each solution?

thanks

ciao

Pros: You don't have to spend 10 mins resetting your saftey each time you miss a handle pass or crash. You don't piss off everyone at you local by having a downed kite in the way every time you stuff up.

Cons: Slightly higher risk of getting spanked if you get it wrong.

Go suicide. If you're like me and blow moves and crash on a regular basis when trying new unhooked stuff then you'll also avoid the sooner or later occurrence of a kite tumble and flip through the lines when totally depowered. Then it's back to the beach to sort it out. Pain. The only time I leash to depower when unhooking is when I'm kiting the flats in between small shoresurf. That way, when I do crash, and a potentially damaging shorey grabs the kite, it'll flag out rather than tearing it; hopefully.

suicide. Try riding flagged out for one session and having to reset that all the time.

Only go suicide if there are no hard obstacles or people downwind to crash into .And its not really windy other wise you will end up chasing your kite across the water or hurt. But the advantage is you will spend less time relaunching on suicide. Also some kites have a 3rd option more depower but not totaly flagged out.

Depends also what kite you're on. Certainly my C4s have enough depower at the bar that suicide is hardly the appropriate description.

Everyone says my kite has enough depower but if your lines are tangled and your kite is looping ist head off you need room down wind to give your self time to fix it.Nothing ever goes wrong when you expect it too.
Have fun George
