Hi
Very very new to the sport - 1 2 hr lesson and a failed attempt to body drag in too light winds.

Anyway, I live in Busselton, don't have anyone to sail with and would like suggestions on suitable close-ish locations to learn. Ultiimately I would like to be kitesurfing all the spots I surf locally and up north.

I have a 145 cm twin tip, a cabrinha convert 9m and I weigh 86 kgs. Is this suitable equipment? I used an 11m Switchblade on Melville water and was a little intimidated by the power in the lesson, but what do I know? I couldn't even get my kite to fly at wonnerup and then I got abused.

Ideas please?

This is why the red thumb system sux... somebody asks a genuine question and only one person responds- the question asker has no idea why they are red thumbed and thinks this site is full of wankers. We were all noobs once so how about taking 5 minutes to write a response or offer a hand !

Relax people!

@ TheDrip: just like you I'm a total beginner. I have taken only 1h lesson and at the end of it I could hardly stand on my board ;-). It's not that I think I'm a smart a... but I can't afford more lesson right now. So anyway; I won't be able to give you a lot of advice. I can only tell you that I'm on a 10m Switchblade, I weigh 60Kg and I usually go out between 15 and 20 knots, up to 25 max. I wish I had also a 6 or a 7m for stronger wind but this will have to wait. Plus, here in the Bay (Melbourne) most of the time the breeze is in this average.

If this can encourage you, I find that everytime I'm out I learn something : I can now ride pretty confidently, even upwind, and I'm working on my changing directions (I had about 4 or 5 sessions). The most important I think is that you feel confident when you fly the kite and you make sure you know and have the reflex to safe release if needed.

Have fun and be safe :-)

He pm-ed me his phone number and we have spoken. We will be catching up and going for a sail when his gear arrives.

I have had another bloke reply via pm's as well so thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply. It is appreciated and I hope I can be as helpful to a newbie in the future.

Some of the info has been a little confusing though.
