Short time lurker, first time poster

Ok, so I'm enthused & ready to take some lessons.
The trouble is, how do I know which kite school to go with?

I can only get so much out of websites, so I'm kinda hoping to get some recommendations on kite schools in Perth.

There are a few here & they all look good from their websites, some seem to have better deals for beginners than others; but how do I know who to go with to make sure I get the best instruction?

I just want to make sure I get the right bang for my buck, so if I have to travel a bit to get it, I don't mind.

Should I be concerned about what I will get out of a kite school?
Should I ring them all up & if so what should I ask them?
Or are all the schools of equal teaching quality & value?

I don't know anyone personally who kiteboards, so any helpful info would be really appreciated.

Cheers.

I'm in Perth, fairly central, but as I mentioned, I don't mind a bit of travel north or south of the city to get good classes, Perth is a small city after all.

Go with someone that gives a trainer kite lesson .Gold !! more time on the trainer (in your owntime after the lesson ) and knowing what you have to get F---en good at (with your eyes shut ) ,the better !!! (for everyone )Plus someone who won't let you pass go until you can show them that you are a legend on the trainer .

Alternately ask them if they can get you out on the board and in amongst it in the first lesson (having not even flown ..yet alone mastered a trainer kite) . (really pressure them tell em you're on a tight time line and only have a few days to spare and tell them that 'You pick things up really easily")If they promise that .... AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey mate

as a noob (like you) in Perth (like you) with no $@%@^$ idea (like you) I had a couple of lessons with a bunch in Perth, and within a few short weeks I had bought gear (on their recommendation) that was completely wrong for me, had almost killed myself and was totally de-stoked. I then found out that these guys have a bit of a reputation in Perth for that! I then found Darren and AKS and everything changed. I would thoroughly recommend AKS - they are always helpful, they know their stuff and they are always happy to give advice. They are really professional.

I guess it all comes down to personal experiences, but thats mine anyway. As I understand there are quite a few people out there with a similar view.
