Hey guys, i finished 3 day lessons and now i am thinking of getting my 1st equipment.
I understand bow, c, hybrid bla bla, i understand how to fly it, trim it, how to get board and all that stuff. But, NO EXPERIENCE. I have no feeling of strenght of the wind and agility (speed) so i am asking advice here beacuse in my country, they dont respect noob kiters (read buttholes) and here i found lots of info.
I found new unused kite for very good price North Rebel 9 (2011/2012).
I am 69 kg, 175 cm, most common winds are 12-22 and 14-27 (rougly) and pretty much stable. I used last 2-3 years statistics. I am planing to use bidirectional board ofc. There are way harder winds very commonly but i am monster noob so that is not an option (at least not for now).
I was planning going freeride and i have been googling and youtubing for last year. If i see 1 more review, ill go vomit on my older sister.
I was just curious is it enough sq m for me. Thx 2 everyone. Btw awesome forum!

Mate, regarding a kite, get something fairly new (2010 onward), but at a reasonable price - because you are going to flog it! In a season or two, once you're up and running and not crashing it so often, then go for the thing you really think you want.
At your body weight any twin-tip will do to start, borrow one from a friend, or get one that will sell easily again. You'll find your groove and start drooling over a new board once you get hooked anyway.

Get out there and enjoy it!

Is your windspeed in km/hour, knots, miles/hour?

Ah y, knots, i see everyone use knots globaly. A friend is kitesurfing for 4-5 years but he moved out of the country, he said he has the same kite on 175cm and 75kg and he has some power on 15-20 knots, he used to have cabrinha bow 11 and he says this rebel 9 has almost the same power on this kind of winds so now i am in doubt beacuse i dont have experience :\

The 2011/12 rebels were quite grunty so I reckon the 9 would be perfect at your weight. I learnt on a 7 and 10 rebels over the last 2 years and they were great. Go for it!

That chart is for someone who can kite using his ideal size of board for his weight.

When you are learning, it can be better to get a bigger board and a smaller kite, so if you did go for the 9m Rebel, get a board about 44cm wide that planes early.

It takes a lot of skill to get going in very light wind, so concentrate on learning to feel where the power is when flying the kite. Spend time bodydragging around with the kite without the board to get used to bodydragging upwind, powered bodydragging downwind and just getting comfortable with the kite. It will all pay off when you start using the board.

I'd recommend getting off the beach and into the water. You can learn more and are less likely to get injured or injure someone else.

I will practice in 10 knot winds on empty beaches, people only swim here and its still 2 cold so i dont think anyone will get injured :D I am really looking for safety of others and myself 1st.

that kite is a good kite.
get a bigger board to start, at least 140 x 42. you'll get so many more days on the water an that's what learning is about, being out there flying that kite on the board. Ideally get 2 boards, an LW and your sporty.
beware, under a small kite your LW TT will have to be a performance based model, ie have rocker and narrowed tips.
A lot of the bizmarks and assymetricals, pearl under a small kite. I won't name brands just go for rocker in bigger TT's for now.

I’m fairly new to kiting with the same weight and height as you, kite in a similar wind range and ride the following; TT 138x43 and a 11mt hybrid. I’m very happy with the sizes I picked to get started.
