How do I get my kite to loop tighter when doing kite loops
Instead of doing small circles it tends to go in a wide lazy arc.
Do I pull the bar in harder
Let it out further
Get some bigger gonads

Don't depower your kite at the trim strap. It'll just slow the turning speed.
Bar in. Pull hard on your back hand and push with your front hand.
The bar should be at angled if your committed to the loop.

Enjoy.

Also... what kite are you trying to loop?

Some kites turn faster sheeted in, some turn faster sheeted out.

Either way though the push and pull method koma mentioned always helps, as does a smaller kite and bigger gonads (in that order)

Try fish poling.
Also on a similar note was looping my 8 the other day in 28 kts and was coming down really hard even though the kite was getting back to the zenith. is there a way to soften the landing or are they always hard and fast? Probably need more wind as i am 92kg but want to be prepared for the next windy day.

They're almost always hard and fast - that's the point of a kiteloop... but if you initiate the loop earlier then the kite will be more powered and finish looping sooner, which will keep tension in your lines longer, which will catch you sooner. The later i loop i've found the more slack i'll get in my lines and the less chance of having the kite catch me. The earlier and more powered i loop, the smoother but faster the landing will be.
