No he's not. All the info is great, but when you practice this and when you ride where there are other kiters or surfers/swimmers, etc, whack a leash on it.

If you are in the middle of nowhere and you don't care that you get separated from your kite if you lose grip of the bar, then don't wear a leash, but for 99% of mere mortals, me included, I'd recommend wearing a leash at all times, including practice sessions on the beach.

No, everyone the kites in surf and who unhooks, removes the donkey dick, that I know.
Many brands have removeable ones, and Ozone make one that goes on your spreader bar if you ever need one again anyway.
Kiting unhooked, in my opinion makes people better kiters, they tend to be lighter on the bar and more sensitive to sheeting.

The BWS bar that Ben is using has a removable donkey dick that attaches with velcro. Very handy.

Can't you just not "lock" the donkey dick in?
Great tips on that vid!
