Traditional kitesurfing from what ive seen over the last 20 years with only having a little flutter myself is done with a twin tip or at least that where i see most learning from and also most secondhand gear.
My desire to kite surf comes from wanting to surf the waves using the wind that kicks every arvo
My question is , Should i start with a twin tip or a surfboard if my only desire is to surf waves at the local beachie
We had a crack at a twin tip behind the boat today and found it quite difrernt
surfboard felt heaps easier and lighter winds im thinking
but im sure after an hour or two the TT would feel fine

Get the basics on a twin tip, much easier while you learn kite control and you don't need to gybe. Once you can hold your ground, try a strapped surfboard, then progress to unstrapped if that's your liking.

Behind a boat is very different than using a kite. Another big advantage of twin-tip for beginners is being able to stand on it in the shallows for a beachstart... getting a surfboard to cooperate in knee-deep water, plus waves, while you're controlling a kite and getting your feet up onto the board to waterstart will be challenging unless you have some basic skills. Worth getting a cheap used TT to use for awhile.
