I always use adjustable pigtails, this allows you to fine tune the lines real easy!

WVB ^^^^ how does an adjustable pigtail work ? I gather you need to tie a few knots in the line to attach the larks head to? Do you have a knot preference - figure of eight maybe ? to maintain line strength??
BTW - Fone kites have this feature on the back lines under the floats - but I haven't looked at what sort of knots F-one uses - must have a look!!
Oh and checking line trim is a good thing to do when ur wishing there was enough wind to kite!!

How good a little info can be. My Bandit 4 10m kite has been a real pig lately, back stalling in light wind a real problem. After asking a fellow kiter on the beach if he knew what the problem seemed to be, I agreed that yes the back lines where to long making it too underpowered. This didn't help and after looking at this thread and watching the Seabreeze how to article I have my kite working better than it ever has. (After doing exact opposite I originally thought I needed to).
So thanks for the help.

Skindog, See picture, even when you have 200 sessions this knot still comes loose super easy!

Hi Guys
Noob ... seeking some input.

I recently purchased new kiting gear - 2013 Best Kahoona 11.5m with Best RP Bar. Went for my first solo session last weekend with the new gear and found the kite to be highly unresponsive. I had previously used a 11m North Neo kite during my lessons, which was quite responsive.
As per instructions in the Best manual, I had hooked up my back lines to the lowest knot on the rear attachment lines on the kite. Compared to all the other kites around (mostly North kites), my back lines were drooping quite a significant amount. After struggling for a bit, I walked back to the beach and reattached the back lines to the highest knot, and finally found some steering control.

I've checked my lines since (as per video - thanks for link guys), and they all seem pretty even.... so the question is, is it normal to have a heap of slack in your back lines on the recommended knot?

Could I have not pumped up my kite enough? Wind speed was fairly light ~17knots.. could this have also contributed?

Thanks guys

Hey SuperK, Yes it's normal, when I know I am going to be underpowerd I always put my lines to the highest knot. When I know I am going to be a little bit overpowerd I attached the lines to the lowest knot. When your lines are all equal this was probably the problem!
